Robert Nesta Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981)…When most people think of Bob Marley, naturally the first thoughts are of his music and his message. Not very many think about the contributions he made to fashion through his style. His style has influenced street wear for the past 30 years and it will continue to be relevant in the future. His style stayed true to his culture; he grew his dreadlocks out because of his Rastafarian beliefs. It is said that hair is a sign of true wisdom, power, and patience. He wore simple canvas linens, khaki slacks, and knit caps. Nothing was ever flamboyant or extravagant. Bob Marley’s style is so much more than the cliché t-thirts with his image plastered onto them. It’s about loving yourself, making the most of life, and following your own beliefs.
